Practical Matters
Appointment options: the choice is yours.
We have different types of consultations because we know everyone is unique with different needs. You’ll always receive expert, personalised care whether you see us face-to-face, over the internet or a combination of both - whatever works for you.
In Person Appointments
Face-to-face appointments are held in our stunning, purpose-built treatment rooms with beautiful surrounds. Every detail has been considered so you feel relaxed and right at home.
Telehealth
Pelvic Health Matters has been offering secure telehealth consultations (via phone or video) to our local, rural, remote and interstate patients for many years. With our reputation for excellence in pelvic health, patients from all over Melbourne and Australia can access our unique expertise using telehealth to overcome the barrier of time constraints, location, distance and travel-related costs.
Pelvic health physio is equally effective in person or virtually via telehealth. Our treatment is more holistic in nature compared to traditional physio and hands-on therapy isn’t required every time. Occasionally, you may need an in-person assessment, but otherwise, you can get the same results in a virtual environment.
Accessing telehealth is easy, too. Our friendly reception team will email you clear instructions on how to access our secure platform as well as backup options in case you have any issues.
Hybrid Model
As we’ve mentioned above, telehealth works very well for pelvic health physiotherapy. And we’ve found that a combination of telehealth and in-person consultations works exceptionally well. It’s convenient, flexible and is especially useful for those who find it difficult to get to our rooms.
Making your appointment
Our friendly reception team will help organise your appointment with one of our postgraduate-qualified pelvic health physiotherapists. They’ll also answer any questions you may have. Our team is passionate about the service we provide and making you feel as comfortable as possible.
If you’re attending in person, we’ll email you our address and parking information. Attending via telehealth? We’ll give you a secure link and instructions on how to access our platform.
Preparing For Your Appointment
Before your consultation, we’ll send you a confirmation email with all the relevant appointment info. You’ll also receive a link to our registration forms and pelvic health questionnaire.
If you’re unable to complete the forms via the link we send you, please let us know. We can email you a printable pdf or post you a hard copy to complete at home. Alternatively, you can arrive 15-20 minutes early to complete the forms and questionnaire before your appointment.
NB: Completing your registration form and pelvic health questionnaire is extremely helpful as it provides a summary of your history, current health concerns, their impact and what matters to you. If there is a question that doesn’t apply or makes you feel uncomfortable, feel free to leave it out. We appreciate this questionnaire is extensive and value your time and effort in completing it.
Your Initial Appointment
TIME REQUIRED: Please allow approximately 50 minutes for your initial consultation.
WHAT’S COVERED: During this consultation, we’ll:
- Hear your story and conduct a clinical assessment
- Set meaningful pelvic health goals
- Connect the dots and understand how it all fits together
- Develop a personalised pelvic health plan
- Choose from research-proven treatment options
As you can see, your initial appointment is very important. We aim to work with you closely to treat your pelvic health problem holistically – so we can get to the root of your problem and allow you to enjoy life to the fullest.

In-person Payments
Payment of your account is due at the time of consultation. Cash, EFTPOS and major credit cards are accepted.
Telehealth Payments
Payment for telehealth consultations is required on the day. Our staff will call you after your consultation to take payment over the phone. If we’re unable to reach you, we’ll send you an invoice with the details required to pay via bank transfer.
Clynden Avenue Payments
Payment is required on the day of your appointment. We do not have payment facilities on-site at Clynden Avenue. After your consultation, we’ll email you an invoice, and our receptionists will call you to take payment over the phone.
Your appointments may be covered under Private Health Insurance if you have physiotherapy ‘Extras’ included in your plan. As rebates differ depending on your fund and level of cover, we recommend you call your health fund. This way, you can find out the exact coverage you’ll get from them. And, don’t forget to bring a physical or electronic health insurance card with you to your appointment.
Typically, Medicare does not cover physiotherapy. However, eligible patients can get a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan, which allows you to claim a Medicare rebate for up to 5 allied health appointments per year. This plan is not a standard referral and must be arranged by a GP before your first appointment. Please ensure you bring a physical or a copy of your Medicare card with you to your appointment.
NB: We cannot process health insurance or Medicare claims on behalf of patients for telehealth consultations or appointments at Clynden Avenue. Once we have received payment for your consultation, we will issue you a paid invoice to submit to your private health fund or Medicare, and they will pay any applicable rebates to you directly.
DVA
Eligible DVA patients will have the full cost of their appointment covered.
In order to bill DVA, we require the following prior to the initial appointment:
- Current doctor’s referral
- DVA card
We are unable to bill DVA on behalf of patients if we don’t have the above documentation. You will be required to pay the full costs of your appointments until the documentation is provided. Costs cannot be claimed in retrospect.
NDIS
We accept NDIS patients whose funding includes pelvic floor physiotherapy in their plan.
Eligible patients will have the full cost of their appointment covered by NDIS. To bill your plan manager directly, we must have the following BEFORE your initial appointment:
- Confirmation of your NDIS number
- Proof of cover/funding
- Support coordinator’s details
- Plan manager’s details
If we do not have the above documentation before your appointment, you must pay the full cost of your appointment. You can then claim the NDIS rebate directly from your plan manager.
WorkCover and TAC
We accept patients who are covered by WorkCover and TAC. We require a letter of approval from TAC or WorkCover and your claim number prior to your first appointment. However, we cannot bill WorkCover and TAC directly for appointments. Patients pay for their appointments in full, then claim the rebate directly from the WorkCover or TAC provider.
NB: WorkCover and TAC do not cover the full cost of appointments, and there will be an out-of-pocket gap.
