PHM Reception

FAQs

No, but our patients are often referred by their doctor or healthcare provider. If you have a referral, please bring it with you, as it’s helpful for your physio.

On average, our patients attend 5-6 appointments over a four-six month period. However, this may vary depending on several individual factors. Together, we’ll agree on what works best for you, your commitments and your finances.

Yes, we offer secure telehealth consultations (via phone or video). Patients can access our unique expertise using telehealth to overcome the barrier of time constraints, location, distance and travel-related costs. Pelvic health physio is equally effective in person or virtually via telehealth.

Yes, of course! We’re a family-friendly practice and have books and toys to keep your children’s busy little brains occupied.

After you’ve booked your initial appointment, we'll send you a confirmation email. This will include a link to our registration forms and a Pelvic Health Questionnaire. Please complete these forms before your initial appointment. Alternatively, if this is not possible, please arrive 15-20 minutes early to complete your forms. For subsequent appointments, please don't forget to bring your Pelvic Health Matters folder.

We require 24 hours’ notice if you’re unable to make your appointment. In the event of a late cancellation or non-attendance, a fee will apply.

All of our appointments have an associated fee. Please call our reception team to confirm pricing before you attend. Payment is due at the time of your appointment. Cash, EFTPOS and major credit cards are accepted. There is information regarding rebates below.

We allocate 50 minutes for initial and extended appointments and 25 minutes for review appointments.

You can wear whatever you like or feel comfortable in for your appointment. There are no specific dress requirements and you don’t need to necessarily come in active wear.

Our physios are comfortable assessing you when you have your period, as long as you are. However, if you aren’t comfortable having an assessment, it’s always worth coming to your appointment as planned. A physical examination is only one part of pelvic health physiotherapy.

Our purpose-built treatment rooms are at 549 Burke Road, in Camberwell, conveniently located just 1 km north of the Monash Freeway (M1), near the corner of Toorak Road.

On-site car parking is available at the rear of the building. Please use the laneway between our building and “Bill’s Fish and Chips” to access the carpark. Rest assured, ample free street parking is also available.

Our rooms have plenty of public transport access. This includes tram line no.72 along Burke Road, stop no. 56 northbound or stop no. 55 southbound. We are located between Camberwell and Gardener train stations.

You can claim a rebate for your appointment, provided you have Private Health Insurance with Physiotherapy Extras. Rebates vary between funds and levels of cover, and please keep in mind that there is often an out-of-pocket cost. You may wish to contact your health insurer if you require specific rebate information.

Private Health Insurance rebates are claimable at our Camberwell rooms on the day of the appointment, as long as you bring your insurance card. If you don’t have your card or your appointment is off-site or via telehealth, you will be required to pay the invoice in full and then claim the rebate directly through your fund.

Typically, Medicare does not cover physiotherapy. However, eligible patients can get a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan*, which provides a Medicare rebate for up to 5 allied health appointments per year. Please ensure you bring a physical Medicare card or a copy to your appointment.

*Please note appointments under management plans are not bulk-billed. Medicare provides a partial rebate for eligible patients, so there will be an out-of-pocket cost for appointments.

NB: You cannot claim both private health insurance rebates and Medicare rebates for the same appointment.

If you have any further information about rebates, please get in touch with our friendly reception team; they’ll be happy to help you.

Yes, we treat DVA, NDIS, WorkCover and TAC patients.

DVA

Eligible DVA patients will have the full cost of their appointment covered.

In order to bill DVA, we require the following prior to the initial appointment:

  • Current doctor’s referral
  • DVA card

We are unable to bill DVA on behalf of patients if we don’t have the above documentation. You will be required to pay the full costs of your appointments until the documentation is provided. Costs cannot be claimed in retrospect.

NDIS

We accept NDIS patients whose funding includes pelvic floor physiotherapy in their plan.

Eligible patients will have the full cost of their appointment covered by NDIS. To bill your plan manager directly, we must have the following BEFORE your initial appointment:

  • Confirmation of your NDIS number
  • Proof of cover/funding
  • Support coordinator’s details
  • Plan manager’s details

If we do not have the above documentation before your appointment, you must pay the full cost of your appointment. You can then claim the NDIS rebate directly from your plan manager.

WorkCover and TAC

We accept patients who are covered by WorkCover and TAC. However, we cannot bill WorkCover and TAC directly for appointments#. We require a letter of approval from TAC or WorkCover and your claim number prior to your first appointment.

*Patients pay for their appointments in full, then claim the rebate directly from the WorkCover or TAC provider.

NB: WorkCover and TAC do not cover the full cost of appointments, and there will be an out-of-pocket gap.
