Everyone Matters
We celebrate diversity and believe that everyone deserves to be seen for who they are. No matter your background, identity or how you experience the world, you matter to us
The Importance of Language
Put simply, language matters. It can make you feel included, empowered and respected. But it can also unintentionally exclude or harm. That’s why when you read our website and resources (or visit our practice), you might notice that we’re mindful of using words that are inclusive, accurate and respectful.
We focus on person-first language. This means we see the person before any condition, identity or characteristic. Because we know that people are more than their gender, culture, disability or diagnosis.
You’ll also notice we use non-gendered language wherever possible. For example, we refer to anatomical terms such as ‘vagina’ or ‘penis’ when describing conditions, because body parts do not have gender. We acknowledge at times, we have referred to gender and that for some people this references their gender assigned at birth and does not align with their identified gender.
Neurodivergence Welcome
We recognise and celebrate neurodivergence. Whether you identify as autistic, have ADHD, OCD or dyslexia, or experience the world differently in other ways, you belong here. We understand that neurodivergent people may have different communication styles, sensory needs and ways of processing information. That's not something to change -it's something to respect and work with.
We know that traditional healthcare settings haven't always been accessible or welcoming for neurodivergent people. We won't assume what you need -we'll ask and listen. We're committed to doing better. Your way of being in the world matters to us, and we'll work with you to ensure your experience is comfortable, respectful and supportive.
Our commitment to you
- We strive to avoid words or tones that stereotype, exclude or trivialise
- We respect the diversity of bodies, genders, sexualities and relationships
- We understand that language evolves, and we will adapt as it does
- We listen to the voices of the communities we serve
- We build a collaborative culture so that everyone feels seen, safe and cared for
- We endeavour to be flexible in how we communicate and deliver care
