Pelvic Surgery
‘Pelvic surgery’ is a general term that describes any surgery in the pelvis. It usually relates to the bladder, bowel or reproductive organs. These surgeries are more common than you might think. Typical surgeries include hysterectomy, prolapse surgery, prostate surgery or gender reassignment.
If you’ve been told you need pelvic surgery, you’re probably feeling hopeful – but perhaps a little daunted. Surgery is a big decision, and there’s lots to consider. Plus, given that you need surgery, you’re likely already experiencing symptoms such as pelvic pain, prolapse, incontinence or have prostate cancer. Any of these issues can be distressing and impact your quality of life.
Hopefully, recovery from your surgery will go well; however, many factors can impact your healing. It can take time, be uncomfortable and leave you feeling uneasy and worried. Having a plan before or after surgery can make this experience as smooth sailing as possible. In addition to your surgeon, having the support and advice from a pelvic health physio can be invaluable. It can give you much-needed peace of mind and allow you to confidently return to your everyday life as quickly as possible.
At Pelvic Health Matters, we know all about pelvic surgery. And working alongside your doctor, we can help you prepare for and recover from surgery. So, if your surgery is coming up or you’re in the recovery phase, contact us soon. We’re confident that our proven pathway is the best way to restore your pelvic health and live your best life.
