Prostate Conditions
When things are working well, we’re not even aware our prostate is there. In fact, we may not even know what it does. But if problems arise, this little gland can steal the focus.
Prostate problems and their treatment can impact our lives in a myriad of ways. Almost everything can be affected – daily activities, work, exercise, social life – and even intimate relationships. You might feel frustrated at the urinal, arrange your daily routine around where the nearest toilets are or suddenly find yourself needing to wear pads.
Understanding your prostate
The prostate is a walnut-sized gland located at the base of the bladder, with the urethra passing through it. Its job is to add fluid to semen (seminal fluid). If you’re suffering from prostate issues, you’re not alone – they’re very common, especially as you age. This can be due to normal age-related enlargement or conditions such as cancer. If you have treatment for prostate cancer (such as surgery and radiation), this can lead to difficulty controlling your bladder or bowel – or cause erectile problems.
Alternatively, if your prostate is enlarged, you may experience frequency or urgency issues – or slow flow.
The good news is that in conjunction with your doctor most prostate problems can be managed or even cured with the proper treatment. And most symptoms that occur after treatment can also be helped. At Pelvic Health Matters, we know all about prostate issues. So, if you’re experiencing prostate problems or are about to have prostate surgery for cancer or an enlarged prostate, there’s no need to go it alone. We're here to help you, so contact us soon. We’re confident that our proven pathway is the best way to restore your pelvic health and live your best life.

- Complete an online pelvic health questionnaire – so we can better understand your prostate issues.
- You'll have a 1-on-1 consultation – we’ll listen to your story because there’s often more to it than the physical stuff. It’s about discovering all the contributing factors. Then, we’ll conduct a clinical assessment, which may include a pelvic floor examination, an ultrasound and bladder diary.
- Together, we’ll set meaningful health goals – like “to get my bladder control back so I don’t have to worry about wearing pads” or “to be able to pee like I used to”.
